sarswimmer95 So here's a question for all...If you exceed rotor limitations (i.e. 107-114% Nr for 5 seconds on a bell 206B) will you just cause structural damage to the vertical through bolt OR will you actually sling a rotor blade?  There are a few interesting school...  moreSo here's a question for all...If you exceed rotor limitations (i.e. 107-114% Nr for 5 seconds on a bell 206B) will you just cause structural damage to the vertical through bolt OR will you actually sling a rotor blade?  There are a few interesting schools of thought over here on the military side.  Personally, Im not going to chance slinging a rotor blade.  Thanks!

sarswimmer95 cool. no limits were exceeded so it was more of a theoretical question. so you are saying the blades would come apart before the vert. bolts would let go?

Keith58 I have had a 58D at 125 for about 2-3 secs. I have never felt an aircraft shake so much. I can't imagine all the damage that is being done if you exceed the time limit. I would think transmission, driveshafts and blades all around would be affected.

    Hello all,

My name is Chris and I am so glad I found this website...finally a site for pilots! Anyway I am a semi-low time pilot, both fixed and rotary wing (obviously more into helos than planes.) I am currently in flight school for the Coast Guard learning how to fly again, and it is such a slow process...approxmately 2 years. Anyway, trying to find helicopters to rent and fly (Schweizer 300's) to stay current. There arent very many on the Florida panhandle. Enough about me! Hope to talk to you soon!
