      mlanger Do you think they could actually enact this legislation? All airspace is controlled by the FAA in the US. Wouldn't any new rules have to be approved by the FAA before they could be enacted?

      Elan Head I think the concern is that, if directed to do so by Congress, the FAA could enact arbitrary rules without industry input. It will be interesting to see how it shakes out.

      mlanger I'd hate to see rules enacted because a handful of pilots can't fly friendly -- or a handful of whining non-pilots complain.

  • fly911 Thanks. I've been flying mosquito control for about 25 years, so I know quite a few from association gatherings and neighboring programs.
  • WestOzHeliPilot OK, with the last GoPro video I did in the R44, I had lots of vibration. I'm only using the suction cup at the moment because I don't want to leave a stack of 3M mounts on a number of R44's. So if you guys have any suggestions on best places to use the GoPro suction mount to reduce vibration, that would be great. I'm planning on doing another flight in about 3 to 4 weeks when I get back from work so I'm hoping to have it placed in some good areas.

    There was an interesting story in the New York Times this week about helicopter operations in L.A.:

     

    Helicopters Jam the Skies Above Los Angeles

     

    I'd be interested in hearing what others think about it. Obviously the reporter is not very familiar with helicopter operations or FAA regulations — I really can't envision an R44 circling at 90 degrees of bank, and as another RotorSpace member pointed out, the rooftop helipads the reporter refers to are there due to building codes, not because they get regular use. However, the pilot quoted in the article certainly does nothing to promote the "fly neighborly" concept. Thoughts, especially from any members who regularly fly in L.A.?
