CopterDoctor both have injected engines, the cbi is geared for training and has a 180hp engine. the c has 190hp engine and is geared for working, carries more weight. other things as well but those are the primary differences.

Was the situation in this accident aircraft consistent with this profile? The forward CG would be easy with two big guys up front and nothing behind them. Oddly, I was flying in these conditions just yesterday and noticed more than the usual amount of vibration in the helicopter. Certainly not worth landing for, but I was thinking of taking my mechanic for a flight if it persists. Now wondering if it had anything to do with this. Thanks again for this link, Scott. Certainly gives me plenty to think about -- and another reason to lose weight!  less

The description of mast rocking says that it does NOT cause the main rotor blades to diverge from their normal path of rotation. This accident (http://www.ntsb.gov/aviationquery/brief.aspx?ev_id=20060510X00540&key=1) was caused by the tailboom getting cut off because the main rotor blades DID diverge from their normal path of rotation. Robinson may have settled simply to avoid a costly lawsuit and questions regarding the safety of their helicopters.  less

scottswanberg I agree 100% Maria. Who knows what happened. Anything from clear air turbulence to a "let's put this new ship through it's paces" moment, but I am reasonably sure that it was not a design flaw that caused this crash. If it WAS a mechanical failure, I think it was probably more of a fluke than anything else. I think Robinson settled because they knew it was the right thing to do, both for their business and for the families of the departed. There are just too many of these ships flying around worldwide for there to be serious design flaws.  less

in the topic Greetings from Afghanistan in the forum Introduce Yourself

first and foremost let me Thank you for your service

    good luck in your endeavors

i still dont get why tyhe GI bill wont cover private

there are several schools that accept the GI bill around the US ,but if you have found one in alaska

    awesome

The only advise i have for you is remember the instructor works for you ,,you are paying him or her

if you dont feel you are getting the info or dont understand something let them know

the female cfi's seem to be more focused on small details ,which when you do instrument is very important

so do not discount the info they have too offer you i have met 3 that stand out in my training ,which i feel

have polished my skills greatly ,,

one place i would really like to fly is alaska  just very intriging to me

any way if you would like to have any other info please feel free to

    email me at chrnxn@gmail.com

again thank you for your service

in the topic Helicopter partners wanted in the forum The Hangar
i saw a couple allouettes on barnstormers but they burn 45 to 60 gal an hour ,purchase price is right but cost to run is scary , the other options are high time 206 or a 44 right now i have 190 hrs just got my comm other options for a job are pretty slim right now it seems that buying a heli is a logical option what are your thoughts and what kind of contracts do you have lined up email me @ chrnxn@gmail.com,we can discuss it further
