Been there. Done that. Never during the daytime though... makes it look easy.
I woke up this morning to this show. A loaded helo (Eurocopter AS350) from the portuguese firefighters landed in front of my house, droped 4 men in full gear, hooked up a bucket and started waterbombing a fire that broke out (or someone started, most like...

Dude, they stole your pool water! Did they refill it later? Awesome video. Mental note: swimming pools attract helicopters. Hang out by the pool. :-)

absalomHi guys. I have a question for you. Why is it that the tail rotor on h-53 and h-60 are tilted? h-53 leftside tilted down. h-60 right side tilted up

Without the tail rotor being tilted, the tail would have had to be far longer. The 53 has the Tail rotor on the left side (called a pusher TR) which is considered the most effecient, as opposed to a tractor TR (like the UH60). The UH60 has the tractor style mainly because it would have required bigger, heavier TR components were the TR on the other side, as it needs the space from the vertical stablizer to allow room for flapping. The designers felt the slight loss of effeciency outweighed the need for heavier components putting the TR on the left side. UH-60 has an incredible amount of TR authority! less

Thanks. I've been flying mosquito control for about 25 years, so I know quite a few from association gatherings and neighboring programs.

Karl Lagerfeld to design VIP helicopters for AgustaWestland. http://bit.ly/HlAVd2 So in addition to engine air particle separators, we should expect the AW139 to have perfume atomizers? The all weather covers will be a tasteful quilted black leather? Seats upholstered in Chanel tweed? What do VIPs want in an interior?
