Personal Information

  • About Me Had a previous life before flying and on a travelling trip around Asia I met a helicopter engineer who reminded me of one of the three things I wanted to do when I was younger, the other two being race a formula 1 car and shag Elle McPherson. I'm still available for the other two!

When I got home I looked at getting my licence and what it would cost. Good job I didn't look too hard at the cost else I'd never have started. Soon after I set off to Australia and got my CASA CPL(H) a low flying endorsement and a sling load endorsement before coming back to the UK just in time for the Glastonbury festival which was very wet and muddy, quite a contrast to my months in Australia. Once back I set upon getting my JAR CPL(H), and once that was done it became quickly apparent that the only jobs available for low hour CPLs was instructing. At this point I got a break and was offered an FI(H) position, so I quickly got my course done and started training other pilots! I've been doing that now for about two and a half years and need to make a decision about which way to jump now - do I start thinking of moving from training PPLs and type ratings on to CPLs and perhaps examining, or perhaps the preferred route of something more commercial. I quite fancy getting into sling loading as I really enjoyed that in my Australian training.

I have the H269, Bell 47 and R44 on my Aussie licence and R22, R44 and B206 on my JAA licence.

  • fly911 Thanks. I've been flying mosquito control for about 25 years, so I know quite a few from association gatherings and neighboring programs.

Just had a look at the iPhone SDK. It's Apple only which stops my XP machine dead in its tracks. Have you come across a windows iPhone development tool?

    :-)

It's working and I have populated it with my logbook... showed up all the mistakes I had made in my paper logbook! I'm just tweaking and adding functionality now. Have used it successfully for billing and LPC totals. I also have a totals summary page which is public so I can publish that with my CV.

Lol, I'm no programmer! I'm sure you'd shudder at my coding :-) However, it's all HTTP, PHP, Javascript, MySQL with a little AJAX thrown in.

Ta :-) You're the second person to mention that... I don't have an iPhone to test it on, so for me is low priority as the development is mostly to make my life easier, but it is added to the list!

The app at the moment just allows logging, updating, summarising and a sort of browse/edit and summarising between set dates.
