  im not, but i have a couple of friends who are right now. They say they are really backed up right now, lots of waiting around for training to start.

  i have heard that the army is really wanting people to have a degree to get into flight training. can you check with them and see if that is true?

  yeah, you have to be an officer to fly for them and you have to have a degree to be an officer.

  Just want to clarify that it's not entirely true that you must have a degree. There are commissioned officer aviators (lieutenants, captains, etc.) and there are warrant officer aviators. Commissioned officers required a degree, however warrant officers do not require them.

  I think it's either 32 or 33, but I think you can get a waiver.

  that is great new. i was worrying that i may have to give up trying to fly for the military

  The age cut off has changed a bit over the years and rumors are flying about it potentially dropping to 29 in the future. However, as stated you can get an age waiver. It's actually quite common. I know of people in their mid to high 30s going through flight school.

  One of our Graduates is a Instructor in Rucker now. I believe another one of our CFII's is in Rucker too.

  I'm a warrant officer in the US Army and went through flight school in 1993. You don't "necessarily" HAVE to have a degree to be a commissioned aviator. Yeah, if you come in off the street, go to college through ROTC or the academy, yes, you do have to attain that degree then go on to Rucker. However, if you choose to become a WO first, then at some point decided to to commissioned, you have 2 (?) years to complete your college degree so you can be "qualified" to be a commissioned guy.
  
  The entire Army aviation scheme as we all knew it at one time is constantly changing. You can get a waiver for anything...including an age waiver. The Army needs bodies...we've got a war going on right now on 2 fronts. Yeah, the drawdown is occuring in Iraq, but you'll will ALWAYS see Army aviation there. That is a must in that theater.

  Im an instructor at Mother Rucker right now. You can graduate high school and come right in to be a pilot. It is a system that helped provide pilots for vietnam.
