I got my CFI late last year through Group 3 in California. I had recently gotten out of the military and had around 1200 turbine hours and two combat tours so I figured I was a pretty decent candidate for instructing. To date I have only tag teamed a few students in ground school just so I could get my feet wet. Aviation is a pretty tough industry to get into right now it seems.

CFI since 9/08. I'm over 700 hours now and a CFII. The hours still come too slow but is seems to be getting better. The big problem is that I'm 53 years old and not getting any younger. I find the lack of motovation of some of the students we have now mind boggling. I can't understand how somebody could take this line of work so casually.

I agree I worked hard throughout my training. For me part time wasn't an option. This is school for a career. A PPL in helicopters is so impractical unless your rich or lucky

CFI since 07/06 from SSH. Learned in Sacramento and moved to Jacksonville, Florida to work. Had half of my students soloing before school closed. I'm a firm believer in allowing instructors to recommend students not continue training (SS wouldn't let me). If they aren't motivated, studying, or lack the necessary abilities, they don't belong in the air. Overall, it was fun while it lasted. Now I haven't flown in over 2 years and need to get back into it.

Got my CFI in '68 but have used it very little since. Applied for a job in Miami once, but not being bilinguil held me back. They didn't have Rosetta Stone at the time or I might be writing this in espanol, me amigo. It has come in handy signing off BFRs and doing recurrent training. I guess if it were in my blood, I would have done more of it. Definately looks good on a resume'.

CFI since 12/09... flyin since 06 and and love every minute I can get... Funny question to ask is How many CFI's out there have less than 500 hrs and are unemployed?(flight wise)

I have been flying for almost ten years but just got my CFI last year for my job. I really enjoy it!

CFII for nearly 3 years and I also have a JAA Flight Instructor license.

CFII since April 2007. It's been a great experience, nothing better than seeing a students face after their first solo flight. Still hoping to do many other things as a helicopter pilot, but instructing is very rewarding, glad I got this rating...Definately has never been boring, and teaching others has definitely helped hone my skills.
