That could happen if an inexperienced pilot (or non-pilot, perhaps, in this case) was "playing Air Wolf." You can't screw around like that in a helicopter with a two-bladed system.

Pylon whirl, It's not the first or last,Thats why Kert settled. Doubt pilot error in cruise flight.
hkutcherLogTen Pro will be 50% off the 25th and 26th in the Apple app store. Also, they have one app now that works on both iPad and iPhone (so no more need to buy both). I'll be upgrading to v.6.

I bought into their software, expecting affordable updates and discovered that I'd be paying the same as new customers every time I needed to update. I have it on my Mac and iPad; it will cost about $75 to update on both. I'll be abandoning it; I simply can't see throwing that money away annually on logbook software when I have a traditional paper logbook I can more easily maintain for free (or nearly so). LogTen Pro is good, but not THAT good.

Hey, you can still fly with a licensed pilot. Maybe you can find someone that wants to split the cost of a rental with you. You DID say that your favorite helo is a "Mosquito" . Good luck, Joey.

Still gonna fly. I really enjoy flying with my CFI anyway. Just wanted to check off "Solo" on my bucket list.

sad. Was just contracted by one of the companies that books flights for
me. Says that the mother of a 25yo woman who went missing from
Scottsdale yesterday called and asked to spread the word to helicopter
pilots with a description of the woman's car. Says we should call in if
we see a gray Jeep Wrangler with a black soft top out in a remote area.
Spread the word to other AZ pilots. I'd give the phone number, but I
don't think it's for Facebook publication. If you do see it, I suggest
calling the local cops. less
kwheli70To the Aussie flight schools out there... I'm an Australian with a PPL(H) from FAA and now in Europe... it it worthwhile getting EU certification to make it easier to convert to Aust when I get home? or no benefit?

I had gotten the motorsports edition, came with a nice protective case and suction cup mount. My one concern, is how to hook up the audio so i can get it plugged into the intercom system. I was planning to attach the suction cup mount to my helmet, but the camera has to be in the case. Not sure if i can fine a mic port with a small enough head on the plug to fit in the case. Any suggestions?

Great! I went nuts looking for one of those. I know they had them at Papillon, but when I called to get info, they had no idea what I was talking about. That should work VERY Well. Good luck!

I drilled a hole in my case for the audio port... Low tech, but it works. Only problem is I seem to have a bad case of the red blotchies on my gopro 2. Seems it's a very common problem. :(

Need to make sure there's no extraneous dust on camera lens or inside camera case that can grab sunlight and make artifacts. Use clean, lint-free cloth. Be careful not to scratch anything. If the problem doesn't go away, you should proabably seek a replacement. I have three of these cameras and none of them have red blotches -- although the color sometimes seems a little overly saturated on the GoPro2.

It's not the lens, Maria. It only happens occasionally, but there is no way to tell until I watch the video afterward. Look on the support forums, there are hundreds of others with the same issue. I plan on getting a replacement.

I hate doing a shoot and thinking I got good video and then finding out there was a problem along the way. Last year, I flew the Columbia River from Quincy to the Coolee Dam -- a distance of at least 100 miles -- and, when I landed, discovered a huge bug smashed onto the lens of my nosecam. Footage from about 1/2 of the flight was worthless. Ugh.
